About

What and Where is Bear Dance Ranch? ….
Come join us! BDR is a beautiful place, near national forest and a Colorado state park, with a recreational lake, between Durango and Mesa Verde. We open our ranch to those that want to experience ranch life. We support children in need in our surrounding communities with day camps, offer horse/child connection programs, summer horse boarding, camping and recreation. We also invite children from around the country to come and discover South West Colorado Ranch life!
During the summer we will offer to children who visit the ranch: horse/human connection sessions, caring for the ranch animals, planting in the greenhouse, general ranch fun, as well as singing and group discussion time.
Children learn life lessons through horses. They learn respect, integrity, mindfulness and compassion, leadership and gain self-confidence. We offer horse connection courses and programs and hope to offer special programs for children with special needs in the near future.
We are a non profit organization – Children in Crisis touch many of our hearts, because they are so vulnerable and look to others for their care, their nurturing and learning about the world and themselves. Sometimes the world has not treated them well and we want them to know that they are amazingly special and give them support and be a positive influence in their lives. We will be reaching out to organizations such as Make A Wish Foundation, Autism Society, Feed The Children, Churches, Schools, and Children’s Organizations. We will be able to accommodate children or families overnight in cabins or they can bring their own RV’s. Hotels are also available 5 miles away.
